I visited there in 2001 for six weeks when I had a traveling job. Hertz gave me a 2001 Camaro convertible to drive! Needless to say, yeah obnoxious mountain bikers - not so many in 2001 - but loads of shady-looking characters. We were taking some funny "OMG - THIS cactus looks like a penis TOO!" pictures, and saw two of them try to steal the car. Yeah, I was stupid, had my work laptop in the trunk (didnt trust the Holiday Inn) AND the keys in the ignition. I'm not a big guy but I'm intimidating, they took off pretty fast.
