Wal-Mart Cake
By Just Stupid on Oct 26, 2007 in Stupid Companies, Stupid People, Stupid Pictures
Some employees had a "going away" party for a lady at their BCBS Little Rock claim office.
One of the supervisors called a Wal-Mart and ordered the cake.
He told them to write: "Best Wishes Suzanne" and underneath that write "We will miss you".
As the picture shows, it didn’t quite turn out right.
It was too funny not to keep it. And funny enough for Just Stupid!

As a cake decorator one always thinks do you really want that on your cake? Well, someone did it. I love it!!

So this is America– why in heck’s name can’t people SPELL?? Why are people still ILLITERATE in this “country that has everything”???
Da Speller | Mar 23, 2008 | Reply
Underneath as 2 words would have to be spelled Under & Neat to be correct. Notice the use of a capitol letter starting the word neat? Why can’t angry people stop for 2 seconds to read AND comprehend before spouting… in this country that has everything (including incredibly bitter and grammatically challenged commentors).

Der, Der. I have been a cake decorator at Wal*Mart for 7 years and we’ve never used those boxes. This cake is NOT from Wal*Mart…

Hey, Da Speller!
Before criticizing others’ spelling: check your own. It’s not “capitol letter.” It is “capital.” “Capitol” refers to a city that is a seat of government (or a building that houses governmental bodies, such as the building in which the House and Senate meet in Washington DC.

I love this haha! Its funny though how skewed these stories get though time and email. I happen to have a close personal relationship with the person that actually ordered this cake. This is about as close as I have seen lately to the actual story, but the only thing I am going to give away (to protect identities) is that it was a woman who ordered it, and supervisor was not her title. But the biggest thing that I have seen wrong in this story is that the cake was actually ordered from Sam’s Club. Haha.

That’s funny! She wrote everything the person said!

Sam’s Club = Wal*Mart. Same stinky company.

My brother is a director of buyers for Walmart, my sister-in-law, a buyer. I wonder if they’d see the humor since they live where Walmart is headquartered!? Maybe I’ll send this link

For my son’s communion, the bakery wrote
FIRST HOLLY COMMUNION….I kid you not, I have the pictures to prove it.

@Donna – send us the pictures – we’ll post them!

Well, I worked in the bakery of Wal-Mart a year ago, and that box looks like the one that we used. I guess it depends on the store location.

Send your photo to Jen at http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/ … it would be a perfect submission! – you can email her at cakewrecks@yahoo.com, and there are basic submission instructions as the very first post.
(She already has this ‘Walmart Cake’ as the very first submission on her blog.)
Cheers,

I once purchased a cake for one of my student recitals. It read, “Congradulations!”
Sam’s club

I don’t shop at Wal-mart (matter of principle) but I have a niggling suspicion the center line could have been added later. Looks like different handwriting to me and not as skilled.

I use that kind of box all the time, and I’m a Wal-Mart Cake Decorator… It all depends on your bunzl availability.

Hey Marjorie, Before criticizing others’ spelling, check your use of parentheses!

I made my Mom a cake when I was five.
HAPPY BIRDAY it said.
I’d grown up to be a grammar Nazi (well, more a spelling Nazi).

Hey Flying Rat, Why did you capitalized the word “Before”?
Duh!!! this is silly…
Heidi | Apr 1, 2009 | Reply
Okay. While this a hilarious misunderstanding, I can not understand why these comments have become a battle of who is the most grammatically correct. Anyway, I hope they got there money back.

As you can see I even make grammatical mistakes while typing in a hurry…

I ordered a cake at our local Safeway for my daughter’s friend’s 16th birthday and asked for a big 16 in the center. When I picked up the cake if said “BIG 16″. Now it’s a family joke. Each birthday is “BIG”.

Oh,really, “speller”?
You seem to have the seat of power confused with the upper and lower case presentation of letters. The former is the “capitol” in AmerEnglish; the latter is the “capital”.
Muh. Duh.

I know and it’s not about one word or two words underneath or under neath. They
1.wrote ‘underneat’ What did webster update the dictionary? I couldn’t find ‘underneat’ in my dictionary….so was wondering.
2. “Good Luck Suzanne. Underneath that. We Will Miss you” That doesn’t make any sense to me as written. It seems comically nonsensible.
3. Worse that wasn’t what the customer instructed to be written on the cake so… the cake was not made to the customers specs
SimplyBeauty | Jul 15, 2011 | Reply
You guys are missing the point, the person called in and wanted the cake to say “Best Wishes Suzanne We Will Miss You” the baker was not to add the under neath that part. The person ordering was just giving him instructions as to where to put the next sentence which would be “We will miss you”. So it’s not the person who ordered the cake it’s the dumb baker that included the instructions on the cake, lol! It was just supposed to say:
Best Wishes Suzanne
We will Miss You
That’s just like me ordering a cake and tell them to put “Happy Birthday ???” but on the bottom of the cake make sure you put a flower, but the baker writes all that on the cake.

@SimplyBeauty – I’m pretty sure we didn’t miss the point.
