You Don’t Need a Shoe Stretcher
By Just Stupid on Nov 26, 2009 in Stupid Companies
Have you ever noticed how many products there are on the market today that you don’t need? I’m sure that you have since there are a lot of ridiculous products out there. What’s sad, though, is that there are a lot of unnecessary products that are marketed so well that we think we need them. One example of such a product is the shoe stretcher.
The shoe stretcher is a product that you can buy to manually stretch your shoes so that they are wider or longer than they were when you bought them. This can seem like a great product. If you buy shoes that are too tight then you can just widen them out and then they will become comfortable shoes, right? Not exactly.
When you widen a shoe from the natural shape that it is supposed to be, you strain it a bit. If the shoe isn’t made of a material that is designed to be stretched then you could do damage to the shoe. You pay all that money for great shoes, plus you pay the money to buy yourself a shoe stretcher, and you end up with shoes that you can’t wear because they are damaged.
Why would you not just buy wide shoes if you need wide shoes? There are a lot of manufacturers and shoe retailers which specialize in creating shoes for people with wide feet. There are wide shoes for people of all sizes and ages. There are wide shoes in a variety of different styles. Why buy small shoes and stretch them? That’s like buying jeans that are a size too small and then holding your breath to get into them. Buy what fits!
