Want to know why gas costs $3 per gallon in the US?  Al Nakheel Properties (Nakheel Corp), builders of the soon to be famous "The Palms", has done it again expanding their portfolio of man-made islands with this latest Dubai island project shaped like the continents of the world. "The World" will consist of  somewhere around 300 private artifical islands divided into four categories - private homes, estate homes, dream resorts, and community islands. Each island will range from 300,000 to 900,000 square feet in size, with about 300 feet of water between each island.  Construction has already begun on the $1.8 billion dollar project .

Each island is being sold to selected private developers and are expected to have pricing beginning at $6.85 million.  Word has it, both developments are already close to being sold out.  Something just doesn’t sit right with us.  Global warming, $3-$4 gallon for gas, screwing with mother nature, etc.  And I bet there is a lot of USA money going into these projects too.  Just seems stupid.
