I think that was very unfair for that kid. Why would you conclude that a kid who sketches a gun is already giving a threat? Who knows if that kid is just fond of drawing weapons? Maybe the administration should have made further investigations about the incident.

All this “safety” concerns that school administrators have can (and are) being way overblown in many cases. I think as a society, we have become SO sensitive and knee-jerk reactive to what in my day would be innocent child’s play, that kids can’t be kids anymore. My son loves to kill all the monsters (and animated soldiers) on his X360. He is also in 10th grade and taking 2 calculus classes at a University. Give the kids a break, folks.

It is sad that schools restric kids so damn much. And its not a thrat that a kid draws a **** gun in class. If he drew a bunch of robots destroying the world does that mean he’s already got half a robot army in his basement. NO! Same with the gun… it’s no big deal. i draw guns all the time. I like them. And i am the last person you’d expect to kill som1.

dude, dont be silly ive drawn guns over school text books and homework before, i wasn’t punished for it as a threat, for doing graffiti yes, but never as a threat. Today kids are exposed to such things everyday, in games and on tv. This is no different from a girl drawing a pony.

The uproar over the drawing, which the student turned in with a school assignment, cuts to the question of what constitutes a “threat.”

Uhmmm… If the assignment was to draw a gun on a piece of paper, why else would he turn it in with an assignmet unless it was a threat?

And for those people who didn’t read the entire article, the drawing posted WITH this article clearly states it was NOT the original drawing.

John READ THE ARTICLE, STUPID.

I bet if the kid drew a condom and two guys having sex the teachers would praise and reward him as a hero, and get him “Pole Position” at the gay pride parade.

Oh wow, that totally has more than one meaning.
