Arizona Cardinals Punter – Scott Player

So what is stupid about this? Come on, look closely. No it’s not that blonde mustache (although that might qualify) it’s that stupid face mask — if you can call it a face mask. The face mask is actually outlawed by the NFL. But Scott, was "grandfathered in". Which makes wearing it even more stupid. Isn’t it enough that football players are as big as compact cars now? But if the league that is just now looking into concussions has actually made YOUR helmet illegal to wear, don’t you think it’s time to think about your own safety? Scott, we know you are actually a pretty cool guy and an excellent punter, but… This is just stupid!

Dude, he’s a freaking punter, he may get a shot up high maybe once a season. Now, if it was a QB or a lineman, I’d call the guy a dunce

Well I have to agree, he hasn’t seemed to be injured yet, but come on, would you where that on an NFL field?

Gentlemen, with all due respect, you completely miss the point. That the mask may look stupid is an opinion.Maybe the angle is a bit steep yes,but there’s absolutely NOTHING stupid about wearing a one bar.Instead, Scott Players’immesurable courage should be acknowledge before any criticism be targeted his way. This man is making the ultimate sacrifice in order to be the best punter he can be. Many non kickers, but bad ass players back in in the 60′s and 70′s ( Theisman in 80′s)wore a one bar when in fact they had many other options.Mike Ditka, Jim Taylor, Joe Kapp, and many receivers and defensive backs all wore one bars at one point.Like Player, all they where doing is sacrificing their teeth and eye sockets, shnoze etc.. in order to get a better view and be the best possible player they could be. Nothing stupid about that!
