A Light That Looks Like a Window?

Check out this ridiculous light fixture that you can buy if you have close to $400 to waste on a single area of lighting for your home. The light fixture is designed to be mounted so that it shines onto a wall in your home. When you turn it on, it makes it look like this part of your wall is actually a window that has light coming through it.

Hm.

Wouldn’t it make a lot more sense to actually just enjoy the real light that is coming in through your real windows every day? This seems like the type of thing that is really only good for those kind of people who are so scared of the outside world that they lock themselves in their houses and try to create real life without leaving the home. I can picture someone sitting in front of this faux window on his computer playing Second Life for days at a time.

If you have $400 to spend then you can get some really nice light fixtures. You could get exotic world imports lighting or chic accent lighting or a few really cool vintage lamps. Why would you spend the money on a light that looks like a window? That’s just dumb.

Could be used in a basement with no windows. Still, $400? I can make that from a cut out piece of paper stuck in front of a light fixture. ha

I agree, that’s pretty stupid. Though I could see how it could be useful for a room with no windows, like a home office. The perception of having a window there could brighten the room and the mood of the person working in that room. But still, I don’t see why it has to be so expensive. -Jason

Dude, that’s hilarious – but not in a good way. Great post topic!

Hey, as a side-note, I mentioned your site in my October recap, because you’ve been a great source of click-throughs for me. Thank you! Keep up the great work here.

my u shaped kitchen in a townhouse doesn’t have any windows (and can’t since it is up agains another condo, so i’m looking to create a fake window to increase the light

think out of the box people – while 400 may be a bit much there are reasons for something like this. i was hoping for somehting that actually hung on the wall though.
